Hine-āhua
"Maiden of the altar." A goddess seen wandering on the face of the ocean after the great Deluge, by the survivors on their raft. With her were Hine-raka-tai, Hine-apo-hia, Kare-nuku, and Kare-rangi. These came to make a commotion in the sea, that the raft might be destroyed and those on it might perish. The sea was boisterous, but the raft and its occupants were not overwhelmed.
