Hine-one
"Sand Maid." Sand Maid, a personified form of sand. She was assigned to protect Mother Earth (Papa) from the onslaughts of Hine-moana, the Ocean Maid. She is a daughter of Tāne and Hine-maunga, or of Rangahua.1 The offspring of Kaukau and Te Arawaru were placed with Hine-one to be cared for by her.
