Hine-tū-a-kirikiri

Gravel Maid, a personified form of gravel. She was assigned by the Whanau-a-Rangi, the offspring of Rangi, to protect Mother Earth (Papa) from the assaults of Hine-moana, the Ocean Maid.

She is a daughter of Rangahua1 or of Tāne and Hine-tu-a-maunga,2 and sister of Rakahore and Hine-one.
