Sváfnir

"Sleep-bringer." One of the serpents that slither at the foot of the great ash tree Yggdrasil, according to Grímnismál. In stanza 54, Odin gives himself this name.

Sváfnir is also the name of the father of Sigrlinn, the beautiful maiden who was desired by king Hjörvarðr.
