Whanau-puhi

The Wind Family, also Tini-o-Matangi-nui, the Multitude of Great Winds, the collective name of the winds in Māori mythology. From these winds all things acquire the breath of life. They bore Tāne to heaven, and defeated the hordes of Whiro. The winds dwell in the Wind House, but emerge therefrom to gambol on Mahora-nui-atea or Maraerka, the vast plaza of the Ocean Maid, and to assail the Cloud Children in the vast region of Vātea (space personified).
