The butler or wine-steward of Arthur and a knight in his entourage. Sir Lucan is one of the last few surviving knights. In the Vulgate Mort (le roi) Artu, the king, grieved by the losses of his knights, crushes Lucan in his fierce embrace. In Malory, Lucan and Bedivere carry the wounded Arthur away, but dies soon after of his own wounds.
