A minor knight of the Round Table, appearing in many texts, including Chr├ętien de Troyes' Erec et Enide and Perceval. In the Vulgate Cycle he fights with Arthur against Mordred. When Arthur is mortally wounded, Gerflet is instructed to throw Excalibur in a nearby lake.

In subsequent texts he is killed when Lancelot rescues Guinevere from the stake, and it is Bedivere who casts the sword into the lake.
